Big Or Not So Big Changes In Online Casinos?

Added: December 22, 2016

Truth be told, the answer to that question posed in the headline for this article is a matter of perspective as you will soon see. Here is what this is all about: the types and methods of online gambling payment options. Perhaps you recall the earlier days stretching a few years back when the first online gambling sites had to look far and wide to find online gambling payment options that could and would be accepted both in their locale as well as the potential online casino players themselves.

As you are most certainly well aware, various governments around the world have and still do to this day, used prohibitions and what some refer to as antiquated online gambling legislation in an attempt to stop online gambling fans from having their fun. Naturally, that has forced both the online gambling sites as well as the eager online casino players to seek out alternative solutions.

One such alternative method for online gambling payments and deposits that quickly became the “go to” choice in quite a number of countries was both Neteller and Skrill. Not surprisingly, as the popularity of online casino action continued to grow in popularity, so too did the use of the Neteller and Skrill.

However, a recent announcement from the parent company (Playsafe Group) that owns Neteller Skrill looks to put an end to that practice. Not a complete end of Neteller Skrill payment options, mind you. Instead, the recent communication from Playsafe Group is worded as: “….We regret to inform you that as of November 25, 2016 we will no longer offer the Skrill Prepaid Mastercard in your country”. Ooops, now what?

It turns out that this announcement did not in fact go out worldwide. Interestingly, this announcement from Playsafe Group does not effect nations that are part of the European Union or the European Economic Area. However, as you may well know, this reversal by Playsafe does indeed effect countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Columbia, Brazil and others.

Is this a sign of the times or is there something else going on that has not been publicly revealed? Australian online casino players should take note of the fact that they can still withdraw existing funds from their Skrill account. On the other hand, the Neteller Skrill prepaid Mastercard can no longer be used for online gambling site activities.

Perhaps that is just as well. As online casino action becomes ever more popular, gambling fans are seeking other payment and deposit methods anyway.
